Urban Farming of the future
Urban Farming of the future
We are changing the World by using future technology for sustainable food production. We grow healthy food close to consumers in our transparent cityfarms (www.stadtfarm.de).
TopFarmers‘ AquaTerraPonics Technology runs water and nutrients entirely in a fully integrated closed-circular-system. The water is filtered through our living substrates (Terra) where plants find the nutritions they need. Our system maintain and strengthen itself by diversity, expertise and biological controls instead of pesticides and herbicides.
For many years now TopFarmers has been researching and developing in the field and is now using AquaTerraPonics as an evolution of Aquaponics. We want to show that our sustainable cityfarms are ready for commercial success and that AquaTerraPonics is a true alternative for feeding people in future cities.
IGA Berlin 2017, the international horticultural exhibition, was a place of inspiration, ideas, dialogue, experiments and exchange – and a platform for Innovation.
From April 13 through Oktober 15, 2017 we showcased our Technology with a large booth at IGA. We presented a small version of our production System, including all sorts of tropical plants such as passion fruit, sweet potatoe or taro. Here are some of our most beautiful impressions and memories of an amazing six months.

Roof Water Farm in Berlin has been researching for several years how to purify water cycles in city houses and how to integrate them in processes and structures of future homes.
TopFarmers is a research associate of Roof Water Farms.
„Zero Emissions Research and Projects“ is dedicated to enviromental education since 2007. ZERAP facilitates a greater awareness of sustainable technologies among children, youth and grown-ups.
TopFarmers works closely with ZERAP to communicate and spread our knowledge.
Chido’s mushrooms uses coffee grounds from local shops to grow gourmet mushrooms to provide home growing kits.
Chido’s can be seen as the predecessor of TopFarmers: a zero emission production is realized but still no circular system like AquaTerraPonics.
„New opportunities for sustainable food production through transformative economics.“
We are researching together with BMBF-funded nascent on new concepts of sustainable food production, food sovereignty and food security. The project looks at a local approach on how to transition the food system towards a sustainable future.
We are happy about the growing interest in our work. Here is a selection of the diversity of our visitors:
